The operational and infrastructure works of the Khushig Valley new settlement area have started.

Prime Minister L. Oyun-Erdene participated in the opening. He said, "Mongolia is announcing to the international community today that it is starting the construction of a new city and a diversified economic zone in the Khushig Valley within the framework of the New Recovery Policy." In the future, the government will support the new settlement areas based on Darkhan-Uul, Orkhon, Umnogov, Uvorkhangai provinces, Baganuur and Nalaikh, the suburbs of the capital, solve infrastructure problems and create a legal environment to attract private sectors and international investments. This Khushig Valley development has the potential to develop not only into a new residential area, but also into a special economic zone and an independent transportation and logistics hub. "The Bogdhan railway goes around the new settlement area, and the works are coordinated."

Mongolia has not built a new city since 1980. After 40 years, the city is being planned again. As part of the infrastructure development of the new residential area, the construction of water supply, sewerage and electric supply sources has started.

Mongolia is building a new city and starting to diversify its economy. For this, the underground engineering construction will be started first. According to the government's decree, the state institutions will be started in stages. Bogd Khan railway design work has been completed.

We have a history of building many cities. However, in the last 40 years, new urban areas were not built. Many factors contributed to this, such as political instability and short-lived governments. As a result, half of the total population lives in the capital.

Mongolia should not become a single city-state.

Every year, the number of citizens equal to the total population of one province come to settle in Ulaanbaatar. Mongolia should not become a single city-state. In the future, the settlement zone work will be carried out in Umnogovi province and Nalaikha. Research conducted in the last year has shown that these are completely possible.

The Minister of Construction and Urban Development B. Monkhbaatar said, "The planning map of the new settlement area has been finalized and technical solutions and budget investments have been released. This year, due to the release of the work plan, more than 30 billion MNT was included in the state budget.

Accordingly, the engineering network is starting from five water wells in front of the airport. Also, the construction of the 35 kW power line is starting today. As part of intensifying this work, the government will include more than 200 billion MNT in the next year's state budget in stages.

Ts. Baatarsaikhan, president of "Tavan Bogd" group, spoke at the opening of the new settlement zone, representing the private sector. He said, "I am confident that enterprises will support and participate in the development of the new residential area. Our company plans to build a factory in this area and create 4,000 jobs."

It is estimated that 35,000 people will be settled in the new settlement area of the Khushig Valley. By 2040, 150,000 people will be settled, and it will develop into a region with high business, tourism, transportation, logistics, production, services, administration, culture, education, health, and high economic activity.

At the cabinet meeting /2022.08.10/ the decision to move some government administration institutions into Khushig Valley was forced as part of the decentralization of Ulaanbaatar.

Prime Minister L. Oyun-Erdene, Minister of Energy L. Tavinbeh, Minister of Construction and Urban Development B.Monkhbaatar, Governor of Tuv Province D. Monkhbaatar, prominent members of the Parliament and director of the project unit D. Oyunkhorol laid the foundation stone of the new settlement zone.
